چکیده

Lactobacillus rhamnosus are Gram-positive and lactic acid-producing bacteria. Meanwhile, Candida albicans tropicalis opportunistic fungi that cause oral candidiasis. This study aimed to determine the effect of LGG on biofilm formation C. with hypothesis inhibits yeasts. ATCC MYA-4901 13803 were standardised 1x106 cells form a mono-species biofilm. L. GG (LGG) was 1x107 cells, equivalent absorbance 0.5 at OD620nm. The microorganisms cultivated in nutrient broth 96-well plate incubated 37°C for 24 h 48 h. Co-culture developed by combining spp. same well similar concentration as mono-culture. Crystal violet assay conducted assess biomass measured OD620nm wavelength. After hours, polymicrobial biofilms decreased 37.1 ± 9.2%. At it further 44.7 5.9%. For tropicalis, co-culture 16.3 5.9% 35.7 7.6% after incubation, respectively. significantly reduced compared (P<0.05). In conclusion, has antibiofilm activity against tropicalis. However, is needed conclude other species strains.

Impact of environmental and genetic factors on biofilm formation by the probiotic strain Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (ATCC 53103) is one of the clinically best-studied probiotic organisms. Moreover, L. rhamnosus GG displays very good in vitro adherence to epithelial cells and mucus. Here, we report that L. rhamnosus GG is able to form biofilms on abiotic surfaces, in contrast to other strains of the Lactobacillus casei group tested under the same conditions. Microtiter plate biofilm...

Effect of tunicamycin on Candida albicans biofilm formation and maintenance.

BACKGROUND Candida albicans is a common opportunistic pathogen of the human body and is the frequent causative agent of candidiasis. Typically, these infections are associated with the formation of biofilms on both host tissues and implanted biomaterials. As a result of the intrinsic resistance of C. albicans biofilms to most antifungal agents, new strategies are needed to combat these infectio...

The effect of nanochitosans particles on Candida biofilm formation

Background and Purpose: In people wearing dentures, the growth of various Candida species under the prosthesis leads to the formation of biofilm, which can play the role of a reservoir for Candida and other kinds of microbes. Since nano-chitosan particles can cause lasting antimicrobial activity, a more recent approach that utilizes acrylic resins with nano-chitosan particles is proposed. Th...

Inhibitory Effect of Fluconazole Combined with Amphotericin B on Fluconazole-Resistant Candida albicans Biofilm Formation

Background & Objective:  The incidence of biofilm-related infections caused by Candida albicans has increased dramatically. C. albicans biofilm-related infections are more resistant to antifungal medications. This work was an attempt to examine inhibitory effects of fluconazole in combination with amphotericin B on fluconazole-resistant C. albicans biofilm.  Materials & Methods:  Fluconazole-...

Effect of Marine Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids on Biofilm Formation of Candida albicans and Candida dubliniensis

The effect of marine polyunsaturated fatty acids on biofilm formation by the human pathogens Candida albicans and Candida dubliniensis was investigated. It was found that stearidonic acid (18:4 n-3), eicosapentaenoic acid (20:5 n-3), docosapentaenoic acid (22:5 n-3) and docosahexaenoic acid (22:6 n-3) have an inhibitory effect on mitochondrial metabolism of both C. albicans and C. dubliniensis ...
